April 20-21, 2007 The FishHawk Road Runner's Relay Team put on an impressive performance at the American Cancer Society's "Relay
For Life" at Newsome Hight School (20-21 April, 2007). Our 15 member team raised over $5,700 to help in the
fight against cancer. Our relay team completed over 600 laps -- more than 150 miles!
We had a runner on the track for the entire event and as the other teams dwindled down, we kept going strong.
Special thanks go out to the "Core
Team" that spent the night on the track: Team Captain Robin Janovsky, Dan Miller, Elise Berman,
Matt Swartzlander, Jeff McMahon, Donna Gonzalez and Gerard Solis. Donna Gonzalez deserves special recongition for completing 19 miles. Wow. Donna,
you were amazing!
Everyone who was at the Relay Friday night remembers the visit of a very special young lady,
Taylor. Jeff passed along the news of Taylor's passing and I think each and every member of the team was touched
by this very sad news. It reminds us how important events like Relay For Life are and how much work still needs to be
done in the fight against cancer. We're lucky to be able to use our passion -- running -- to be able to make a difference
in peoples lives.
Anyone interested
in signing up for the Relay next year should contact Robin Janovsky.
